Open science training and outreach
In addition to assigning DOI identifiers to research data, one of the DataCite consortium's primary tasks involves training and outreach activities related to open science. These efforts aim to raise awareness among researchers, research data managers, memory institutions, and data centers regarding the use of persistent identifiers (DOIs), high-quality metadata, and FAIR principles. Outreach activities complement training sessions by introducing researchers and support specialists to the role of DOIs, persistent identifiers, and rich metadata in open science. This is achieved through webinars, informational materials, guidelines, news updates, community events, and other communication channels. Within the context of the DataCite Estonia consortium, these training and outreach efforts focus primarily on supporting researchers and data centers in managing research data, registering DOIs, and creating appropriate metadata.
