The Registry does not itself store research data and does not replace DataDOI, E-varamu, Zenodo, GitHub, or other repositories, but creates a curated profile of these objects tailored to the needs of humanities researchers. A Registry entry shows, among other things, what type of object it is, where its authoritative version is located, what should be cited, what usage rights apply, whether the workflow can be run, and which data, code, outputs, and publications are associated with the object. The Registry enables objects to be searched and filtered by topic, method, language, place, time period, object type, access conditions, reproducibility, and other research-relevant characteristics. Relationships between objects allow users, for example, to move from a dataset to workflows that used it, or from a workflow to its source data, outputs, and publications.

How to use the service?

Public users can search and browse humanities datasets, workflows, and other research objects in the Registry and follow links from a Registry entry to the original repository, data source, runnable workflow, provenance package, or related publication. To publish through HUMAL, an author prepares a workflow or dataset entry using Workflow Publisher and submits it to the Registry. Before publication, the technical, scholarly, and rights-related readiness of the entry is checked. The precise division of responsibilities between review and automated checks will be defined during the MVP.

Contact for using the service or obtaining further information

etkad@kirmus.ee

Is the service free to use?

In planning. E-varamu remains the environment for discovering and accessing cultural and research data and primary sources, DataDOI remains the service for storing, preserving, and publishing data with DOIs, while the HUMAL Registry describes the research use of these objects and their relationships with workflows, code, outputs, and publications. Where possible, a workflow described in the Registry can be opened or run via Renku, while Workflow Publisher helps prepare the Registry entry and the underlying machine-readable provenance package.

Contact person

Kaisa Langer, kaisa.langer@kirmus.ee

The HUMAL Registry helps users discover and reuse humanities datasets, workflows, and other research objects, and shows where they are located, how they should be cited, and how they are related to one another.

[170
172,156
159,166,149,141,154,153,150,151,152
143,144

171
post-1931","teenus","type-teenus","status-publish","hentry","asutus-eesti-kirjandusmuuseum","teenuse-tuup-andmehaldus","teenuse-tuup-publitseerimine","sihtruhm-andmehaldurid","sihtruhm-arendajad","sihtruhm-humanitaarteadlased","sihtruhm-maluasutused","sihtruhm-oppejoud-opetajad","sihtruhm-teised-teadus-voi-kultuuriasutused","sihtruhm-teiste-valdkondade-teadlased","sihtruhm-tudengid","sihtruhm-uldsus","keel-eesti","keel-inglise","teenuse-staatus-kavandamisel
["GET
